Provobacter Infection

Description:

Caused by gram-negative bacteria from the genus provobacter. These germs are native to the Europan biosphere and can be found just about anywhere in the sea. Provobacter infections are quite common (4 in 17 cases).

Pus is usually yellowish in presentation.

Caused By:

• Infected wounds that develop into a limb infection

Effects:

• Blood infection (>50%)
• Inflammation (>0%)
• Purulent drainage (>25% with wound)
• Abscess (>25% without wound)
• Pneumonia (Blood infection >0%)

Treatments:

Susceptible to:

• Gentamicin (95% effective)
• Ceftazidime (80% effective)
• Primaxin (66.7% effective)
• Augmentin (60% effective)
• Unasyn (40% effective)
